Hi Friends!
Hope you’re all doing well and staying healthy. Can you believe it’s March already?
B vitamins are the “stress vitamins” and can help with energy, mood, focus, reducing carb cravings, and helping with detox pathways (methylation) in the body.
Today I wanted to share the benefits of Methyl B12 injections that we offer in our office.
The injection allows the B12 to enter your body, bypassing the gut. This is really helpful for people suffering from gut issues where the absorption of oral supplements may not be 100%. Many patients find the injection form of Methyl B12 to improve symptoms more significantly than oral supplements.
Methyl B12 is the preferred, or “active” form of B12, also known as methylcobalamin. This is important because 50% of the population has one or more copies of the MTHFR gene, which affects the way the body detoxifies and processes B vitamins. To learn more about the MTHFR gene, please watch my video on YouTube (see above).
Methyl B12 promotes “methylation,” which is a form of detoxification in the body. It helps to lower an inflammation marker that we can measure on your bloodwork, called homocysteine. Ideal homocysteine is 6 (lower the better). Lowering your homocysteine is a great way to prevent heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, and even Alzheimer’s dementia.
Everyone is different, so some people notice greater improvement in symptoms compared to others. Many patients find it helpful to get a Methyl B12 injection once a week. Please call us if you would like to schedule a Methyl B12 injection, and hope you see great benefits.
Wishing you all great health,
Warm regards,
Rajsree Nambudripad, MD
